    • Pressed-in rubber hub or Square universal hub*

* Square hubs (Flo-torq) consist of a square-profile sleeve. The primary advantage of square hubs is modularity, not performance, as the square hub can fit many motors with only hardware changes, but they tend to have two primary performance disadvantages, one, they tend to have a significantly shorter longevity, as compared to rubber hubs (depending on the application and conditions), and two, depending on the hub material chosen, they can create a hard connection from the prop to the shaft, so that any vibration is transferred directly to the shaft, the motor, and consequently, the boat.
